The CFO Agenda was launched with one goal in mind: to help enable CFO organizations to become strategic and forward-thinking business leaders. The creation of The CFO Agenda stemmed from an increasing desire and demand from CFOs themselves and a wide range of stakeholders from boards to shareholders, for CFO organizations to increase their roles in business leadership.

In December of 2009, The CFO Agenda surveyed over 150 Bay Area CFOs, and the data showed a huge diversity of progress being made towards this goal.  However, there was something in common among the best CFO organizations; they achieved a business leadership role within their company.  They had streamlined their accounting function so that it was fast and accurate, and they had optimized their protector function so there were “no surprises” in the business.  These steps freed them to focus on leading their companies in new ways including strategic planning, M&A, business forecasting, and enabling better decision-making.

The CFO Agenda is a set of initiatives focused on people, process and technology. It Streamlines the Accounting function, Optimizes the Protector role, and Elevates Business Leadership activities, enhancing the value of the CFO Organization. The CFO Agenda was created to help organizations focus more time and energy on these value-added activities.
